Ever noticed how our patients treat us like we’re in a fashion show when we wear our fancy scrubs and stethoscopes? The other day, a patient asked if I could model my stethoscope for her Instagram… Sometimes I wonder if they care more about our gear than our assessment skills.
Totally get it! When a patient asked me to model my stethoscope last week, I couldn’t help but laugh. It makes me think about how we sometimes emphasize style over substance.
It’s funny how we might spend hours perfecting our scrubs but forget that good communication is still our best accessory. Maybe we should start a trend of ‘stethoscope runway walks’ at our clinics! @akearney33, what do you think our patients would say if we did that?
I know exactly what you mean! Sometimes I think we should throw in a stethoscope fashion show at the clinic, but I also hope our patients remember the care we provide more than the outfits we wear. Ever thought of doing a ‘scrub selfie’ day to get them focused on care instead?
I’ve definitely had patients more excited about my stethoscope than my assessment skills too! It makes you wonder if we should consider a ‘Stethoscope Style Week’ in the clinic, just for fun. What do you think, @akearney33?
It’s wild how a stethoscope can spark more conversation than a diagnosis! I sometimes play around and match mine to my scrubs just for fun. What do you think, @swilson04, should we turn this into a friendly competition?
Right? I sometimes think my stethoscope gets more selfies than I do! Maybe we should consider a ‘Stethoscope Selfie Day’ for our patients. @orivera88, imagine the fun we could have with that.
