Remembering the Importance of Developmental Screenings

I recently had a conversation with a worried parent who wasn’t sure if their child’s milestones were on track. It reminded me how vital it’s for us as pediatric nurse practitioners to advocate for regular developmental screenings. Early detection can make such a difference in a child’s health journey, and I’d love to hear how others approach these conversations with families.

I totally get that concern; I often tell parents how crucial these screenings are. One thing that’s worked for me is using playful language to explain milestones to kids, so the parents feel more at ease during the discussion. How do you help parents feel comfortable?
