Innovative rehabilitation techniques for post-op care

In my practice, I’ve been implementing some new rehabilitation strategies for patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries. I’ve found that incorporating functional movement patterns early on really improves outcomes. I’m curious if anyone else has had success with similar methodologies or if there are other techniques you’ve tried that have made a difference.

I had a client once who thought light jackets were enough for a night hike, and it got pretty chilly. It’s a good idea to remind them to check the weather and maybe pack layers, especially for those unexpected mountain shifts. Has anyone ever gotten caught out there without the right gear?

I’ve had some luck with using resistance bands to encourage functional movements early on. It’s amazing how much they can help with strength without overloading the surgical site. Though I find that some patients struggle to perceive their limits, so continuous monitoring is key. @jreddy91, have you ever tried using bands in your rehab routines?

I totally relate to that approach. Early functional movement has worked wonders for my patients too. I usually start with simple, supported squats to build confidence — how do you feel about incorporating balance exercises early on?
